Neighborhood Watch Information
11-18-10 - The Horsehead Commissioners, at their meeting today, affirmed support for the Neighborhood Watch Program outlined by Deputy Sarah Wolosek at our annual meeting in August. While we feel it is good to put the "neighbor back into the neighborhood", we believe it is beyond the scope of the District's responsibilities to initiate the measures. We feel small groups within the District should discuss banding together to protect their property as well as the well-being of the neighbors themselves. Therefore, we suggest those groups contact the Lake Tomahawk Town Board and ask for its' help with sign purchase and placement. The Town has $5,500 available for endeavors such as this and would be helpful in guiding the placement of signs according to Town regulations. Groups may also contact Deputy Sarah Wolosek at (715) 361-5100 for more information and suggestions. Signs may be ordered from her anytime but Town guidance is needed as to legal placement. Diggers' Hotline is essential to prevent possible accident. Signs vary in price with orange or blue eye (metal 18 X 24 reflective for $35, non-reflective $25.50; metal 12 X 18 reflective $17.50, non-reflective $16.50; plastic 9 X 12, $3.00). All sorts of crime can be prevented if residents will make it a point to watch their areas and note the unusual. Then REPORT to Sheriff's Office. Individual residents may want to simply get a plastic sign and place it on their mailbox.
